Camden, as attorney general of Great Britain, and Charles Yorke, as solicitor general, at the request of the Privy Council, give their opinion on a report of its Committee for Trade and Plantations concerning some acts of the Pennsylvania Assembly. The Council had asked whether the character of the province allowed the King to repeal or annul individual clauses or sections of acts. Camden and Yorke reply that it does not; the King must either approve or veto an act in its entirety. They also discuss possible abuses of this principle and related matters.
